Most Central European economies, bar Slovakia and Czechia, already reached pre-pandemic GDP levels last year. The Slovak economic recovery pace is the 2nd-slowest in the region and the chances of its acceleration were ruined by the war in Ukraine. Last year, the Slovak economy was hampered by the pandemic, materials shortages, and rising inflation. Although Slovakia's direct trade with Russia is small, the Russian invasion will increase inflation across the EU and dampen household consumption.
