Slovak investor Viktor Jelínek owns roughly 10% in Czech truck firm Tatra, SZ Byznys and ICJK have found. The majority owner of Tatra is CSG (Michal Strnad). Jelínek lent €1.5m to a Norwegian company of Viktor Stromček, former Smer treasurer; the bankruptcy trustee of this company suspects it of tax fraud and money laundering. There are indications that Jelínek owns 50% in a company in the United Arab Emirates where Defense Minister Robert Kaliňák owns the other 50%; both deny this. Jelínek has also done business with Miroslav Výboh in the past. This week, Kaliňák pushed through the government the purchase of Tatra vehicles for €709m, without any tender. The Czech army is also buying the same vehicles.
