Penta could sell Mecom, Slovakia’s largest meat processor, by the end of March 2021, say N daily sources. The potential suitors include Smithfield (USA) and Campofrio (Spain). Both groups have been expanding in Europe in recent years. Last year, Mecom increased its sales from €133m to €144m and posted a symbolic €0.2m profit. In 2010-19 it suffered a cumulative loss of €142.3m.
