NKÚ sees hidden privatization of VVS

NKÚ, the state spending watchdog, has identified a risk that may result in a hidden privatization of VVS Košice water utility, said its head Ľubomír Andrassy. Currently, local municipalities are the only shareholders and privatization is banned by law. NKÚ was reacting to VVS shareholders approving a buyout of its own shares and a bond issue. VVS is also considering providing loans to employees and investing in various projects.

VVS responded that privatization is not possible and the water supply is not at risk.
