Net wealth of the average household increased by 40% to €97,000 between 2017 and 2021
The net wealth of the average Slovak household increased by 40% to €97,000 between 2017 and 2021. The assets of young people and low income households grew the most. High growth in property prices contributed most to the increase, as 90% of households live in their own property, according to a central bank NBS study. 40% are saving, but only 6% of households had financial investments, e.g. in stocks or bonds. The share of households with a home loan increased from 20% to 25% in 2017-21, with the average outstanding loan amount rising from €32,000 to €35,000. The gross annual income of a typical household rose by 31% to €21,000.
