Miroslav Výboh charged with corruption
The police charged Miroslav Výboh, a friend of Robert Fico whom media allege manages Fico’s substantial wealth, with corruption linked to awarding IT contracts at the tax authority FS. Výboh resides in Monaco and has not been detained so far. Výboh’s MiddleCap has real estate investments in Slovakia and London, as well as the Fokus optical retailer. Media allege he controls Doprastav, a construction firm. Former FS president František Imrecze as well as Michal Suchoba, the owner of IT company Allexis, have pled guilty and talked about the corruption.
In the same case, the police also charged former FS President Lenka Wittenbergerová and former Deputy Finance Minister Radko Kuruc. Another Deputy Finance Minister, Peter Pellegrini, is alleged to have received bribes, too. He has not been charged and neither have Robert Fico, Robert Kaliňák, or Peter Kažimír faced any charges.
