PM Igor Matovič is considering merging the collection of social and health levies into a single institution. This would push Penta out of the health insurance business in a way that would reduce the need for its compensation. He is yet to discuss the merger of social insurer SP and health insurer VšZP and pushing Dôvera and Union out of business with its coalition partners. Sme rodina is ready to back the plan; SaS might oppose it. Germany has a similar unified system of levies.
Dôvera and Union condemned the plan to eliminate plurality in health insurance and point at inefficiency in the Slovak public sector.
