Finance Minister Igor Matovič (OĽaNO) promised to present his tax reform in mid-May but is yet to submit it. The reform should include massive tax hikes (VAT, dividend tax, taxes for sole traders) to get funding for new social benefits. Economy Minister Richard Sulík (SaS) is working on his own tax reform, to be presented shortly. His proposal will be quite different from that of Matovič―Sulík will push for abolition of the dividend tax and to cut income taxes as well as payroll levies. He also wants to liberalize depreciation and adopt changes that cut power prices for companies.
