Czech businessman Karel Pražák, the new owner of Nováky-based chemical plant Fortischem, has already poured €20m in fresh capital into the company. He bought it for €1 from Mário Hoffmann, paid off old debts and back wages, invested in technologies, and increased employment by 180 to 780 people. However, expensive electricity complicates the restart of production that still runs at only half capacity. If the situation improves, he plans a further €10m investment. This year's revenues are planned at €100m, €20m higher under an annual comparison. However, high power prices mean the plant may still bleed red ink.
