Justice Minister Mária Kolíková survives no-confidence vote, Matovič lost again

Parliament rejected a Smer-sponsored no-confidence motion in Justice Minister Mária Kolíková (Za ľudí) on Monday. Smer claimed an alleged conflict of interests from three years ago and even OĽaNO leader Igor Matovič called on Kolíková to resign. However, PM Eduard Heger (OĽaNO) met with Kolíková on Sunday and afterwards, Kolíková said that Heger backed her. Heger did not support Kolíková publicly and did not comment on her no-confidence vote at all. Apparently, he wants to avoid a public conflict with Matovič. Just 22 of 53 OĽaNO MPs voted against Smer’s proposal (most its MPs left before the vote), but all MPs for SaS, Sme rodina and Za ľudí did so. Just 51 opposition MPs voted to dismiss the minister.
