EU will take action against Slovakia, including freezing EU funds, in case of rule-of-law violations
The European Commission will take action against Slovakia, including freezing EU funds, if it enacts changes to criminal laws that violate EU laws, EU justice commissioner Didier Reynders told the European Parliament. On December 5, he called on the Slovak government not to advance on the changes via fast-track procedure, but the government carries on. The EP debated the government's plans on Wednesday and most MEPs criticized them and called on the EC to take an uncompromising stance.
