Crisis managers led by pathologist Michal Palkovič at the helm
President Zuzana Čaputová accepted Vladimír Lengvarský's resignation from the Health Ministry and will designate PM Eduard Heger to manage the Ministry. Heger said he will install crisis managers led by Michal Palkovič, a pathologist and former deputy head of the healthcare authority ÚDZS. He will be appointed Deputy Minister. Čaputová warned she is ready to appoint a caretaker government if there is no improvement in the health sector.
Lengvarský condemned Igor Matovič and Heger, whom he accused of causing the doctors' strike. "I will no longer work under pressure in an environment that is toxic, full of political corruption and political inexperience," he said. Political corruption, he explained, means installing unqualified people to positions of power. Heger in turn accused Lengvarský of running out of puff, poor communication with doctors’ unions, and failures in the construction of the Rázsochy hospital, digitalization of hospitals, and modernization of the emergency rescue services.
