Conflict between Maroš Žilinka and Daniel Lipšic is heating up
A conflict between Maroš Žilinka, Prosecutor General, and Daniel Lipšic, head of special prosecutors, is heating up. Žilinka decided not to appoint Peter Kysel as Lipšic’s deputy; Kysel has served as acting deputy head until now. Žilinka says “shortcomings incompatible with a managerial position at the prosecution” prevented him from appointing Kysel. Specifically, Žilinka points at delays in two sensitive cases. Lipšic as well as 23 other prosecutors back Kysel, saying he is among the best prosecutors in Slovakia.
