Hydrogen No.1 priority of Economy Minister Richard Sulík
The use of hydrogen for powering cars, buses, and trains will be my No.1 priority in the coming six months, said Economy Minister Richard Sulík (SaS) at a hydrogen conference attended by cabinet ministers, CEOs of the largest Slovak companies, and academics. Matador’s CEO Štefan Rosina sees hydrogen as the top option for powering cars, too. Maroš Šefčovič, European Commission Vice-President, was talking up EU subsidies for research into this area. Sulík wants to subsidize the purchase of hydrogen buses for some small Slovak city as well as hydrogen trains between Prievidza and Nitra. Košice’s TU university will create a hydrogen research center and Duslo, a fertilizer maker, wants to build a hydrogen production facility using electricity from a newly built wind power plant.
