The anti-trust authority PMÚ fined 18 Volkswagen car dealers €6.7m for forming a multi-year cartel. Five dealers admitted guilt and their sentences were reduced. The dealers rigged public tenders, pledged not to take each others’ clients or compete in certain regions, and set maximum discounts. The cartel included companies such as Araver, Boat, Hílek and Porsche Inter Auto.
Back in 2018, PMÚ fined 15 utility car dealers €9.3m for a similar cartel.
