PM Igor Matovič is advocating tighter safety measures to fight the pandemic

PM Igor Matovič (OĽaNO) is still advocating ever tighter safety measures to fight the pandemic and deems any loosening up to be an act of folly. He says it is now 100% sure schools won’t open before September 1. During the upcoming Easter holiday, he wants to impose a travel ban or even a curfew to prevent people from visiting relatives in other parts of the country. Also, he is considering a long-term curfew for seniors.

Deputy PMs Richard Sulík (SaS) and Veronika Remišová (Za ľudí) oppose tighter measures that would needlessly hurt the economy. (, U.S. Steel Košice President James Bruno deems a complete lockdown a risky strategy. Štefan Rosina, the owner of Matador Group, says such severe restrictions border on madness. Even talking up such a strategy is hurting the Slovak economy, he adds.
