Corruption in allocating farming subsidies

Following corruption suspicions, the police seized the phone of Juraj Kožuch, head of the PPA agency, which allocates farming subsidies. It apprehended nine persons, including one PPA employee, and seized €1m in assets. The police are looking into fixers who were allegedly taking 20% cuts for payment of a previously rejected subsidy. PPA is run by the Agriculture Ministry, led by Gabriela Matečná (SNS), and has been a frequent target of complaints by farmers.
