Tatravagónka expects a record year
Tatravagónka Poprad, Europe’s largest wagon maker controlled by Budamar, Alexej Beljajev and Michal Lazar, expects record sales of €400m this year. High demand for wagons is fueled by EU efforts to move freight transport from roads to railways. It has contracts for the supply of 4,000 wagons this year and growth should continue in 2021. Besides its plants in Poprad and Trebišov, it also owns wagon makers Bratstvo Subotica in Serbia, ZNTK Paterek in Poland and Waggonbau Niesky in Germany. Budamar has a stake in ŽOS Vrútky and wants to increase its stake in ŽOS Zvolen. It plans to invest €70m in a new plant in Prievidza with mine HBP Prievidza.
