Marian Kočner sentenced to 19 years in jail

The Specialized Criminal Court sentenced Marian Kočner and Pavol Rusko to 19 years in jail for forging the €69m TV Markíza bills. The court explained the long sentence by the extraordinary value of the fraud. Both are expected to appeal the ruling, and the case will end up at the Supreme Court. They apparently devised their scheme in 2016, when Kočner had police, prosecutors, and judges in his pocket. The murder of journalist Ján Kuciak changed everything, as Robert Fico and Robert Kaliňák were forced to resign.
