HBP and Tatravagónka to invest €70m into wagon undercarriages venture
Mine HBP (Peter Čičmanec) wants to team up with Tatravagónka Poprad (Budamar, Alexej Beljajev and Michal Lazar), Europe’s largest freight wagon maker, to make wagon undercarriages in Nováky. The companies will apply for EU funds intended for transformation of the Horná Nitra region away from coal. The new venture wants to employ 500 and invest €70m. Under the current rules, EU funds would only cover 25%. With support from the government, they are lobbying the EU to increase the funding to 50%.
