Government will give Kmotrík more money for his stadium

The government approved an increase in the price it will pay oligarch Ivan Kmotrík for the national football stadium by €23.2m, to €98.4m. Based on an initial contract, the government could buy the stadium for €75.2m, or leave it to Kmotrík and pay him a €27.2m subsidy. The price hike is subject to European Commission review and in fact, it will be up to the new government to deal with the issue. The opposition parties cry foul and point at a similar stadium completed in Vienna in 2016 at a price of just €53m.
