GreenCoop plans acquisitions of smaller Hungarian competitors

GreenCoop, Slovakia’s largest tomato grower, has so far invested €8.2m into greenhouses in Hungary and plans further acquisitions of smaller Hungarian competitors. It is also seeking opportunities in Czechia, but its market is already consolidated. It grows tomatoes in greenhouses with an area of 20 ha in Slovakia and 4.5 ha in Hungary. It has been breaking even so far and in 2018, it sales rose to €22m. It was founded by local farmers and 20% is owned by László Gyurovszky.

Ovozela is the market No.2 in Slovakia with production volume half as high compared to the market leader. Farma Babindol (Peter Huňor) comes third.
