Regional wage gaps have shrunk by almost a third over the past decade
Regional wage gaps have shrunk by almost a third over the past ten years, as wages increased faster in regions compared to Bratislava, according to data of the central bank NBS. Real disparities in living standards are just half as high as differences in nominal wages, though, due to higher housing and service costs in Bratislava and progressive income taxes. The real after-tax wage in Bratislava is about €110 a month higher compared to other regions. As for nominal wages, they stood at €1,311 in Bratislava and €829 in Prešov in 3Q19.
