László Gyurovszky’s successful business career
László Gyurovszky, Transport Minister in the Mikuláš Dzurinda government in 2002-06, owns SAM, the Chateau Rúbaň winery, and a 20% stake in tomato-grower Green Coop. SAM has annual sales just under €70m and net profits between €5-6m. Gyurovszky, who lives in Switzerland, has bought SAM shares gradually since leaving politics and denies political corruption was his source of capital. Technology maintenance for Slovnaft oil refinery accounts for almost half of SAM’s sales; the rest is production of ships and technologies for the chemical and food sectors.
