Supply of new apartments fell to record lows
Just 1,732 new apartments were for sale in Bratislava at the end of September, down by half compared to September 2018, according to data of Bencont, a developer. Back in 2017, as many as 4,900 new apartments were on offer. One of the results was a 12.3% annual growth in price to €3,085 per sqm. The market sorely lacks large projects of affordable housing; the supply is dominated by low-quality apartments that developers have been unable to sell for some time. The situation won’t change in the coming year, as developers complain the slow approval process hampers new construction.
