The Boleráz-based sweetener plant of Tate & Lyle recently completed a major investment into doubling the production of maltodextrin. The plant’s sales have fallen from €220m in 2012 to last year’s €110m and the new investment should help it to increase sales as well as profits. Maltodextrin is an innovative sweetener; until now, the plant mainly produced isoglucose, a simple sweetener. The plant processes 300,000 tons of corn annually, one third of the Slovak output.
