Slovakia must cope with falling car output in Germany
German car output will fall to 4.7m vehicles this year, close to the crisis year of 2009 and 1m cars less compared to 2015-17, according to an Erste Bank analysis. This is a major problem for the CEE region, where the automotive sector is a backbone of their economies. The CEE region makes about 4m cars annually. Car makers are suffering due to lower demand for diesel cars. At the moment, the demand for hybrid cars is growing the fastest. Some clients, though, delay purchase and keep waiting for better electric cars. This is an opportunity for producers of batteries.
