Slovak plants of PSA and Kia Motors keep increasing output
The PSA car plant in Trnava produced 203,000 cars in the first half of this year, 58% of last year’s output. The Citroën C3 model accounted for two thirds of the output, and Peugeot 208 for the rest. The plant aims to increase its output 5% to 370,000 cars this year. The plant has already made several hundreds of electric versions of Peugeot 208, so far only for testing purposes. The plant is getting ready for the production of electric car battery packs.
The Kia Motors car plant in Žilina increased its output 6% to 180,000 cars in the first half. Car engine production fell 6% to 222,000, as demand for diesel engines fell. The plant also makes a plug-in version of Kia Sportage.
