NBÚ will not issue any recommendation regarding use of Huawei products

The security authority NBÚ will so far not issue any recommendation to public authorities and consumers regarding the use of Huawei products and will wait for the EU stance expected in September. The USA has blacklisted Huawei on security grounds. “There is no proof so far that Huawei products pose a security risk,“ reckons NBÚ.

Last December, its Czech counterpart NÚKIB recommended public authorities avoid Huawei and ZTE products when building infrastructure.

A ban on buying telecoms equipment from Chinese firms would add €55bn to the cost of 5G networks in Europe and delay the technology by 18 months, according to an analysis by telecoms lobby group GSMA.
