Smer nominated Ladislav Kamenický as new Finance Minister

The Smer party nominated Ladislav Kamenický, head of the parliament’s finance committee, as the new Finance Minister, announced party leader Robert Fico and PM Peter Pellegrini in a joint press conference. Kamenický will take up the job at the end of April and his main task will be to prepare tax cuts for January 2020. The current minister, Peter Kažimír, will become the new central bank NBS governor. Kamenický is on good terms with both Fico and Pellegrini, who originally appeared to be in conflict over the nomination.
