Jaroslav Haščák, a Penta partner, apparently sees his SMS communication with Marian Kočner as a major reputational issue. He volunteered to talk to the police about it to refute suspicions that they discussed the murder of reporter Ján Kuciak in January 2018, a month before the murder. The police included their communication among evidence linked to the murder, which they believe was ordered by Kočner. Haščák admitted to meeting Kočner several times a year; Penta’s banks have financed many of Kočner’s dubious projects. Haščák denies discussing the murder with Kočner.
