PM Peter Pellegrini promised local car makers that “the government won’t adopt any measures this year increasing the costs of industrial producers.” The car makers are complaining about recent government measures such as the 13th and 14th wage, tourism vouchers, and higher pay for weekend and night work, all of which increase their costs. Pellegrini says the government will help companies by increasing the housing benefit as well as subsidies for building apartments for rent. He said the government will adopt measures if the USA slaps tariffs on EU cars. Pellegrini also said that the government will increase the super deduction of R&D costs from the current 100% to 150% later this year and even 200% in 2020. Companies will thus be able to set triple their R&D spending against their tax base.
