The utilities regulator ÚRSO did not have a concise and predictable system for setting maximum prices of power, gas, and heat for households, according to the supreme control authority NKÚ. Also, ÚRSO spent some of the €1.6m state subsidy for checking energy distributors’ assets in a non-transparent way. A company owned by then ÚRSO head, Jozef Holjenčík, was also involved in preparing analyses for ÚRSO, some of which have never been used.

NKÚ deems the shortcomings to be substantial enough to warrant filing charges at the prosecutor’s office. ÚRSO admitted the shortcomings but attributed them to former management.
