Bratislava plant of Volkswagen was forced to stop the production of SUV models

The Bratislava plant of Volkswagen was forced to stop the production of SUV models (Audi Q7 and Q8, VW Touareg and Porsche Cayenne) following halted engine supplies from the Audi plant in Hungary, VW’s largest engine maker. The production of small city cars (VW Up!, Škoda Citygo and Seat Mii) continues in full swing. SUVs accounted for 60% of all cars made in Bratislava last year. It is unclear when production will resume. Workers at the Hungarian Audi plant are demanding higher wages. They earn €1,300 a month on average, while the Bratislava plant of VW pays almost €1,900 on average.
