No fintech invasion

When the PSD2 directive took effect a year ago, media expected the Slovak market to be flooded by new fintech firms offering innovative financial and payment services. No new services have materialized yet. Banks are still working on opening up their system (API) to third parties and the central bank NBS is still working with Brussels to hammer out details of new fintech regulations. It seems possible the fintech firms will become more active this fall, when new regulations are adopted. Among banks, the most active is Tatra banka, which already cooperates with Viamo, DataTree, Gauss Algorithmic and PayKey.
