Skylink acquired FreeSAT

The M7 Group, based in Luxemburg, acquired satellite TV operators in four markets from Liberty Global at the end of 2018. The deal includes the Slovak subsidiary freeSAT. The M7 Group owns Slovak TV operator Skylink and Liberty Global owns the Slovak subsidiary of UPC. FreeSAT has around 75,000 clients in Slovakia and Skylink is the market leader with over 520,000 clients. Markets speculate the M7 Group paid €180m, i.e. €225 per client (this puts the price for the Slovak subsidiary at €16.9m). Skylink would not say whether it would keep the freeSAT brand.
