Labor unions in business service centers
Andrea Klimová and Austrian labor union GPA-djp are setting up labor unions in Slovak business service centers. So far, they are in nine such centers. The centers worry labor unions will complicate and slow down their business. They called on the government to tighten legislation; just three workers are enough to set up labor unions now and the centers want the threshold to be set at 30% of the workforce. Klimová is content with the wages in the centers, but wants other conditions to improve.
There are over 60 such centers in Slovakia with 35,000 workers. The largest were set up by IBM, AT&T, T-Systems and Dell. All came before 2012, and none has been added since. They pay an average wage of €1,780, €120 more than in 2016.
