Maroš Šefčovič will not seek the post of EC president
Maroš Šefčovič, the current European Commission vice-president, will not seek the post of EC president and will support Frans Timmermans, the joint candidate of the Party of European Socialists. Šefčovič had the backing of nine CEE socialist parties. He would not say whether PES promised him support for another EC job in return.
