Slovenské elektrárne expects huge losses
Power generator Slovenské elektrárne (SE) expects a €21m loss this year and a €246m loss in 2020, according to the 2019-21 state budget. The losses stem from some commodity exchange trades that turned sour as well as delays and cost overruns of the completion of the Mochovce nuclear power plant. On the other hand, rising power prices are coming to SE’s rescue. The state owns a 34% stake in SE but has been receiving no dividends since Mochovce’s completion was launched in 2008.
