Government will introduce a deposit scheme for beverage bottles and cans
Environment Minister László Sólymos (Most-Híd) wants to introduce a deposit scheme for beverage bottles and cans by the end of his term in 2020. He expects the deposit to come to 12 cents for each PET bottle, and 10 cents for each can. Costs to introduce the deposit system should come to tens of millions of euros. The state will set up a clearing center to manage the deposit scheme, from collection to recycling and the selling of the recycled materials.
