New gas pipeline Eastring
eustream, which runs the international gas pipeline in Slovakia, presented a feasibility study of a new 1,200 km gas pipeline, Eastring, from Bulgaria to Slovakia. Construction of the €2.6bn pipeline with annual capacity of 20-40bn cubic meters should commence in 2022 and the first gas should be shipped in 2025. The pipeline will allow shipment in both directions; i.e., it could be used to ship Russian gas to Turkey. eustream expect the EU to provide some funding, and the rest of the costs will be borne by gas firms, such as eustream, FGSZ of Hungary, Transgaz of Romania, and Bulgartransgaz of Bulgaria.
