Křetínský and Tkáč acquire a stake in Metro

EP Global Commerce (EPGC; 53% owned by Daniel Křetínský and 47% by Patrik Tkáč) acquired a 7.3% stake in German retailer Metro, which has seven stores in Slovakia. EPGC has an option to buy another 15.2% of the shares, which would make it the largest shareholder in the retailer with market capitalization of €4bn and annual sales of €10bn. The shares are being sold by Franz Haniel & Cie, Metro’s largest shareholder. The price has not been disclosed. The new shareholder plans to develop the company further.
