U.S. Steel is ready to expand in Košice
U.S. Steel is satisfied with its Košice-based steel mill and is considering further investments, including into capacity expansion. Its exit from Slovakia is not on the table, said Deputy PM Richard Raši after meeting with U.S. Steel management in Pittsburgh. The company is concerned about EU greenhouse gas emissions regulations that are driving up its costs, as well as about rising labor costs in Slovakia. U.S. Steel Košice employs 12,000.
