Peter Kažimír will run for the post of central bank NBS governor
Finance Minister Peter Kažimír (Smer) has already decided to run for the post of central bank NBS governor, according to sources of Pravda daily. The term of Jozef Makúch, current governor, expires in 2021, but he might resign in 2019 so that the current government can nominate Kažimír and current president Andrej Kiska can appoint him. The name of the new Finance Minister has not been disclosed. Kažimír and NBS declined to comment. The NBS governor earned €245,000 last year, the Finance Minister just €44,000. The NBS’s key competence is financial sector regulation.
