Samsung is going to close its second plant in Slovakia

South Korean firm Samsung is going to close its second plant in Slovakia, in Galanta, too, according to sources of aktuality.sk. This spring, Samsung closed its smaller plant in Voderady and moved a part of production to Galanta. This plant is still drawing €20m in state assistance. A month ago, Samsung moved six production lines for printed circuit boards from Galanta to Hungary. The Galanta plant employs 1,500. With annual sales of €2.8bn, the Galanta plant is the fourth largest company in Slovakia. It has relatively low value added, though.
