Kaliňák’s tender overpriced by a third

The winning bid in a €15m tender from 2010 for IT components for the Interior Ministry was €5m overpriced, according to the N daily, which compared the tender documents and 2010 prices. The tender was won by local IT firm Tempest, and Special Prosecutor Vasiľ Špirko accused ex-ministers Robert Kaliňák and Ján Počiatek of cashing in a €0.5m bribe. The current Interior Minister, Denisa Saková, led the Ministry’s IT section at the time of the tender. Just two companies submitted bids for standard IT components, despite dozens of companies being active in the field. In 2011, Interior Minister Daniel Lipšic cut supplies within the tender by €0.8m.

Tempest (Peter Kotuliak, Štefan Petergáč a Jozef Mokrý) has been successful in many public tenders. It is among the largest Slovak IT firms and has contracts in the private sector as well.
