Bödör makes money on railways

Kazakh company Integra Construction submitted the lowest bid (€212.5m) in the tender to upgrade the Bratislava – Czech border rail tracks, according to sources of the N daily. The state-run Železnice SR expected a €305m price tag. Bids by consortia ICM and Váhostav (€275m) and Strabag – Swietelsky – Eurovea (€353.5m) follow. The offered price is not that important, though, as relations with the security firm Bonul, owned by oligarch Miroslav Bödör, count for more. The state company will only sign a contract with an applicant that possesses an “SW C4 system integrator” certificate, which only Bonus and two other companies have, one of which is close to Bonul. The public procurement authority ÚVO recently fined social insurer SP €25,000 for having the same condition in its €5m tender.

Železnice SR requires the same certificate in its €95m tender to upgrade the rail tracks near Poprad. Bids in this tender have not been disclosed.
