Tough wage negotiations at PSA
The management of the PSA Peugeot Citroën car plant in Trnava has not agreed with labor unions on this year’s wage hike after eight rounds of talks. The labor unions are demanding a 10% hike, while the management’s offer is 6.8%. Last year, the average wage in the car plant came to €1,465, and the wage of production line operators averaged €1,106. The labor unions point out that the plant pays its workers the lowest wages of the three Slovak car plants. Last year, the wage rose 6.3%.
Workers at the Czech Škoda Auto car plant negotiated a 20% wage hike as of April 1. The average production line operators’ wage stood at €1,540 last year, up 10% from 2016.
