Germany wants Financial Transaction Tax

Olaf Scholz, Germany’s new finance minister, supports the imposition of a financial transaction tax in the EU, to plug the gap in the union’s budget after Brexit. The EU has been discussing the tax for several years, and Slovakia backs it. The financial sector has warned the tax would undermine its competitiveness.
