Raši as Prime Minister and Kaliňák as Smer leader

If PM Robert Fico leaves politics in 2019 to become Constitutional Court chief justice, Richard Raši will be the new Prime Minister and Robert Kaliňák the new head of the Smer party, according to sources of postoj.sk. Kaliňák’s exit from government would be one of President Andrej Kiska’s conditions for appointing Fico as the Court’s head. Should someone close to Kaliňák (police chief Tibor Gašpar or deputy minister Denisa Saková) be appointed the new Interior Minister, Kaliňák’s position would in fact improve. After 12 years on the court, Fico could return to politics and run for president at 66 years of age.

Fico neither denied nor confirmed his ambition to leave politics, and Kaliňák declined to comment.
